Gym For All

For both boys & girls , recreational or gym fun classes are progressive, fun gymnastics.  Our sessions are aimed at developing the basic skills of landing and falling properly, supporting yourself, hanging, spring, swing, rotation and locomotion - how we all move.  The most important value of gymnastics is that is prepares a body for any chosen sport by providing it with a strong foundation of strength and skills

Recreational (5-10 yrs)

This class will focus on the core skills of gymnastics e.g rotation, swing, spring, balance, landings, co-ordination and spatial awareness.  There will be an optional testing week at the end of the first three terms in accordance with our levels system.

Learn to bounce

This age appropriate classes will focus on each area of the trampoline covering mini tramp, double mini tramp and of course the big trampoline.  Children will be taught the basics of tramp, routines, synchronicity, flips and landings.  There is also a chance to be selected for our competitve team if you have talent, self discipline and the ability to learn.

Learn to tumble

This class will focus on forwards and backwards tumbling (cartwheels, handspings, round offs etc)  and also flexibility, conditioning and strength.  This class will will identify those ready to move into our development squad which is the next step up ready for progression in to the tumbling squad

Novice competitive

These classes are specifically for children who have been doing gymnastics for an extended period of time and need a more challenging class or those who have demonstrated good foundation skills.

These classes spend more time on strength and flexibility and work solely on gymnastics skills and novice routines. Children in these classes will participate in competitive novice competitions.

How to join....

Joining is easy - If you havent been to the club before then come in and meet us.  Your first class is for you to have a go, try the class, meet your coach.  If you're happy after that class then fill out our membership form, pay your fee and your'e all done - welcome to the club!

Extra Information

• All gymnasts must tick off their name in the roll call at the front desk at every session upon arrival. This is very important to ensure the safety of the gymnasts and attendance record

• All gymnasts up to 10 years must wear a name tag (provided at the reception desk)

• Star Certificates for pre-schoolers will be given out at the end of each term during a special session recapping all that has been learned during the term.

• We give out birthday cards to gymnasts up to the age of 10, so please ensure the birth date and year are correctly filled in on enrolment form 

Uniform

We prefer our gymnasts to be in our red gym club t shirts or leotards.  We sell all of our uniform at the club office. Red, white or black clothing which is suitable for moving around can also be worn.  No belts or  jeans are to be worn.

EVENTS FOR OUR REC KIDS!

Each year our recreational gymnasts from age 7 and above will be given the opportunity to take part in our Team Gym Competition in October.  Each team is trained by our own coaches at the club.  High standards are expected so make sure you pass you Incentive Award Badge!

Club Championships are held at the end of November each year to assertain who will be awarded the Trophy in each age group, male and female.  These trophies are awarded at our Break Up Display which is held on the last weekend of term 4.

We also participate in the Wanganui Christmas Parade usually held at the end of November.  Our floats are filled with gymnasts of all ages chanting our club song, “we are red, we are white, we are gymnast dynamite!” Everyone gets an invite to this very exciting and fun filled event.
