'Sports Aerobics is a sport based on the ability to perform continuously complex and high intensity movement patterns to music, which originate from traditional aerobic dance. The routine must demonstrate continuous movement, flexibility and strength and utilisation of the seven basic steps, with a high degree of well executed elements of difficulty'
(Exert from Gym portsNZ )
The competition performance area is 7m x 7m for all events. The floor area has a slight cushion and springy feel to it to help provide lift to the athletes. Our aerobics training progamme is designed using the competition guidlines from Gym Sports NZ which is also used for Secondary schools. Aerobics Categories within New Zealand can be of National or International levels which further break down to age categories. At the WBGGC we concentrate on levels dependent on ability from one to three, competing as individuals and also as team entries as part of the National level.
